Valencia City Hall and the surrounding square in sunlight

A Morning in Valencia

Morning light moves across the façades of the Plaça de l’Ajuntament, in the centre of Valencia. The clock tower rises above the square as people cross it and the day begins to gather pace.

A walk, a flower chosen along the way and a coffee with a view offer a quieter introduction to the city. Its character appears in the small rituals taking place around its grand architecture.

The clock tower and façade of Valencia City Hall

At the heart of the city

The Ajuntament de València brings different periods together in one building. Its older section was built as the Casa de la Enseñanza in the eighteenth century; later extensions gave it the monumental frontage seen from the square.

Looking up reveals a sequence of balconies, sculpted stone and domes around the central clock tower. The building is a reminder that a familiar city view can hold an unexpected history.

Flowers along the way

The flower stalls around the square bring colour to the city at street level. Seen close up, a bunch of white roses or a cluster of pale pink blooms offers another way to read the morning.

These small encounters sit naturally beside Valencia’s decorative architecture. A floral shape, a soft shade or the rhythm of stems gathered together can be as memorable as a façade.

The things we carry into the day

A coffee overlooking the square brings those scales together: monumental stonework beyond the balcony, flowers on the table and a patterned scarf beside a notebook.

For Macarena de Alba, inspiration often begins with this kind of attention. Pale pink against warm stone, a repeated botanical motif and the softness of a fabric become observations to carry into the day — details that give a place its particular character.
